When the infected mosquito bites a healthy human being, the dengue virus enters the human body and the person shows the symptoms of dengue.

  • Severe headache
  • Muscle pain and Severe joints pain
  • Severe pain in eyeballs specially while moving the eyes.
  • Emergence of skin rash mostly on the abdomen and limbs.
  • Nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite

    • Brain hemorrhage and internal bleeding in different parts of the body like stomach, lungs etc.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis is definite by doing Dengue IgM test all along with other blood tests like Liver function test, CBC ESR, PCR and virus isolation tests are the positive tests for the Dengue fever.

Prevention

Spread of this disease can be reduced by taking following measures.

  • As much as probable wear clothes that cover the skin of the whole body.
  • This prevents the skin exposure to the mosquitoes
  • Use mosquito repellents in the room
  • Use Mosquito nets and screening on windows
  • Avoid storing water in kitchen and bathrooms as dengue spreading mosquitoes breed in clean and stagnant water.
  • Avoid keeping plants in the house. Because this is an ideal ground for the mosquito breeding.

Treatment

The treatment is given symptomatically. Preferably, patient should be hospitalized to keep a test on platelet counts and as there is lot of loss of fluids from the body patient has to be administered for fluids to keeping him hydrated. Patient of Dengue can simply go into hypotension (low blood pressure), so constant Blood Pressure monitoring is also very significant. When there is require doctor advises the patient for undergoing platelet transfusion.

Role of homeopathy

It is the disease which requires a close monitoring of the patient in the hospital. Administering homeopathic drugs with other conventional drugs is able to speed up the time of recovery in the patient.

As an encouraging line of treatment along with conventional medicines, homeopathic medicines can offer best results in the treatment of Dengue. More research is required to prove if Dengue might be prevented by using homeopathic prophylactic medicines. Some studies in Brazil have shown hopeful results with homeopathic preventive.
